Income Tax
Department has now made it easier to link PAN with Aadhar, as per the press
release released by Income Tax Department dated May 11, 2017.
Now, there
is need to follow some of the steps and its done without getting yourself
registered on department website or without making any log in.
Following
steps needs to be followed:
1. 1. Open
the website as “incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in”
2. 2. Click
on link “LINK AADHAR” on the left plan of the website:
3.
3. Fill
The Pan No., Aadhar Number, Name As Per Aadhar And Click On Link Aadhar
And after following the above said
process, you linking will be done.
In case of any minor mismatch in
Aadhaar name provided by taxpayer when compared to the actual data in Aadhaar,
One Time Password (Aadhaar OTP) will be sent to the mobile registered with
Aadhaar. Taxpayers should ensure that the date of birth and gender in PAN and
Aadhaar are exactly same. In a rare case where Aadhaar name is completely
different from name in PAN, then the linking will fail and taxpayer will be
prompted to change the name in either Aadhaar or in PAN database.
This facility is also available after
login on the e-filing website under Profile settings and choose Aadhaar
linking. The details as per PAN will be pre-populated. Enter Aadhaar no. and
ENTER NAME EXACTLY AS GIVEN IN AADHAAR CARD (avoid spelling mistakes) and
submit.
Conclusion:
Here the department has come up with
a simplified process of linking of PAN with Aadhar without making any log id or
registration.
One more clarification is given by department that the simplified process cam be used by any person carrying a valid PAN & Aadhar irrespective of the fact that the person is registered on Income Tax Website or not.
